Islamorada Man Arrested After Allegedly Striking Relative With Broom, Threatening With Knife
Jacob Edward Stogner, 22, was arrested after deputies say he struck a female relative with a broom and threatened her with a kitchen knife at a Flamingo Hammock Road home.

Jacob Edward Stogner, 22, of Islamorada was arrested Feb. 20 after Monroe County deputies responded to a family disturbance at a Flamingo Hammock Road residence and say he struck a female relative multiple times with a broom then threatened her with a kitchen knife, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office posted that “A 22-year-old Islamorada, Florida man was arrested on Feb. 20, 2026, after hitting a family member with a broom and threatening her with a knife.” The post identified the suspect as Jacob Edward Stogner and said he “was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery.”
Monroe County deputies said they were called to the Flamingo Hammock Road home “regarding a family disturbance at approximately 7:30 p.m.” The Sheriff’s Office quoted the victim as saying that “Stogner struck her multiple times with a broom. She suffered injuries/bruising consistent with her account. She also stated Stogner obtained a kitchen knife and threatened her with it during the incident.”
Deputies detained Stogner at the scene and the Sheriff’s Office noted he “was taken to jail.” Law-enforcement accounts state deputies detained him without further incident and he was transported to the Monroe County Jail. The charges reported in the Sheriff’s Office announcement and repeated by local reporting classify the counts as felony aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officials at the scene observed visible bruising on the female victim consistent with her account, and multiple outlets relayed that authorities said the injuries were not life-threatening. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office post did not include a bond amount, booking number, or a scheduled court date for Stogner.
The Sheriff’s Office Facebook announcement drew local engagement, recording 42 reactions and 2 shares, and the post was set to limit who could comment. The department’s post lists the arrest date as Feb. 20, 2026; one supplied summary listed Feb. 21, 2026, but the Sheriff’s Office date remains the primary record in the announcement.
Stogner faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery charges in Monroe County and, per the Sheriff’s Office post, is in custody at the Monroe County Jail pending formal charging and any forthcoming court proceedings.
