Junk in the Trunk Garage Sale Returns to Truman Waterfront Saturday

After drawing more than 30 sellers to its debut, the Truman Waterfront Community Garage Sale returned April 4 for another round of Junk in the Trunk, and a third edition is set for Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 21 E. Quay Road.

The setup is straightforward: sellers pull up and sell directly from their trunks, trucks, vans or trailers in the open air at Truman Waterfront Park, spreading out household goods, vintage items, collectibles and secondhand finds without any formal booth structure. Buyers moved through the April 4 event browsing a casual, vehicle-to-vehicle layout that kept the whole sale accessible and easy to navigate.

The April 18 event will again feature the Over the Top Food Truck, which handled breakfast and lunch at the earlier dates alongside coffee and a hot dog cart, keeping the waterfront market running well into the afternoon.

Keep Key West Beautiful served as the featured nonprofit for the April events, distributing reusable shopping bags and anchoring the sale's waste-reduction message. With landfill capacity and waste management a persistent pressure throughout Monroe County, the garage sale format gives functional goods a second life locally rather than sending them to the dump.

Sellers for the April 18 date can register in advance or simply arrive the morning of the event. Parking is free with a residential sticker. Organizers are planning to carry the event forward on the first and third Saturdays of each month, contingent on participation, which would put the next edition after April 18 in early May.
