Key Largo Rotary Pickleball Tournament Raises Over $12,000 for Student Scholarships

The Key Largo Rotary Club's second annual Pickle in Paradise pickleball tournament generated more than $12,000 for scholarships benefiting Upper Keys students pursuing technical school certifications and college degrees, with every registration slot filled before players took the court at Key Largo Community Park on Feb. 7.

The sold-out tournament ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and drew players, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers for what the club described as "a day of spirited competition and community camaraderie under sunny Florida skies." Adults and kids competed together in doubles play, vying not for a conventional trophy but for an artistically designed coconut and bragging rights. Entry fees were set at $75 per player, with prices rising for those who registered after Jan. 1, 2026.

"We are overwhelmed by the incredible support from our community," the Key Largo Rotary Club said. "From our players to our sponsors to our volunteers, everyone came together to make a meaningful impact for our local students."

The club credited Monroe County Parks & Recreation for making the event possible at the scale it reached. In a statement, the Rotary offered "sincere appreciation to Monroe County Parks & Recreation for developing an outstanding pickleball facility in Key Largo," noting that "the state-of-the-art courts provided the perfect setting for a first-class tournament experience and continue to enhance recreational opportunities for the entire community."
