Ken Bradbury's Couplings returns to Jacksonville as youth arts fundraiser

Ken Bradbury’s Couplings will return to Jacksonville after an eight-year hiatus, giving longtime fans, first-time theatergoers and local supporters a chance to see the familiar comedy at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church while helping fund youth arts programs.

The production will run Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on July 12 at 2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit The Ken Bradbury Foundation, which supports music and theatre programs for area youth. That makes the revival more than a nostalgic staging of an old favorite; it is also a fundraiser aimed at keeping the next generation of performers, musicians and stage crew in the pipeline.

Bradbury built Couplings around eight couples and a wide span of ages and relationship types, and that structure is part of what has kept the script resonating with local audiences.
