Perry County schools, health department offer back-to-school vaccine clinics

Perry County families can handle school vaccine requirements in one place this summer, with Perry Central and the Perry County Health Department teaming up for two immunization events at the health department. The first will be the Back-to-School Bash from 3 to 6 p.m. July 16, followed by immunizations during Perry Central’s Back-to-School Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 3.

Parents must register a child for either clinic by scanning the QR code on the flyer tied to the announcement. The district said the goal is to help families make sure children are up to date on required vaccines and ready for the first day of school.

The schedule is aimed especially at families with students entering kindergarten, sixth grade or 12th grade, since those grade levels carry additional vaccine requirements. By pairing the school district’s outreach with the county health department’s location, the two agencies are offering a local option for one of the most time-sensitive tasks of the back-to-school season.

For Perry County parents, the timing matters. The clinics give families a narrow window to take care of immunizations before the school year gets underway, when supply lists, orientations, sports and work schedules can crowd the calendar. Holding both events at the health department also keeps the process close to home, instead of sending families to multiple places for school-year preparation.

The Back-to-School Bash on July 16 and the Aug. 3 clinic at Back-to-School Night turn a routine reminder into a practical deadline. Families that need to meet the additional requirements for kindergarten, sixth grade or 12th grade will have two set dates to do it, with registration required in advance.
