Betty Holman, who graduated from Tell City High School in 1965 and spent decades as a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, died Wednesday, April 1, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was 78.

Born October 11, 1947, to the late Rosa (Kleeman) Thaxton, Holman spent her career at Commercial Filters before retiring after several years of service. She was a regular presence in the outdoors, drawn to camping trips and fishing whenever her schedule allowed.

Among those who knew her well, she was remembered for her love of dancing. Betty had a particular fondness for "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers and was especially known for dancing to it with her fiancé, Greg Collignon, who survives her.

Holman is also survived by her sons David and James Holman; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Holman, Jamie Ripley, Timothy Holman and Brianna McCown; and seven great-grandchildren, D.J. Ripley, Leo Ripley, Benjamin McCown, Sarah McCown, Peter McCown, Gunner Holman and Daisy Williams.

Per Betty's own request, there will be no services.

Friends and family wishing to leave condolences or plant a memorial tree in her memory may do so through Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, which handled arrangements and is located at 920 10th St. in Tell City.
