Tell City Woman Roswitha Weissling, 77, Dies at Brickyard Healthcare
Rose Weissling, born in Berlin and brought to Tell City by a soldier's love, died March 13 just months after losing her husband of 50 years.

Roswitha "Rose" Weissling, 77, of Tell City died Friday, March 13, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare in Tell City. She had outlived her husband, Mark Weissling, by only four months.
Rose was born in Berlin, Germany, on August 19, 1948. After graduating high school, she began her career as a bank teller in Germany, and it was in that role that she met the man she would marry: Mark Weissling, then stationed in Germany with the United States Army. They were united in marriage and shared 50 years together before Mark's death in November 2025.
The couple settled in Tell City, where Rose later worked at Jasper Rubber for several years. Outside of work, her obituary describes her as a woman who had a passion for finding hidden treasures at yard sales and a deep love for animals, a devotion reflected in the family's request that memorial contributions be directed to River's Edge Animal Shelter, which the obituary calls "a cause dear to Rose's heart."
Rose is survived by her two daughters, Monica (Jason) Stutsman and Sonya Hamilton, both of Tell City. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Kaleb Sermersheim, Owen Stutsman, Oliver Stutsman, Aaliyah Hamilton, Penelope Hamilton, and Bailey Reynolds, as well as two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Lincoln Sermersheim.

A funeral service in celebration of Rose's life will be held at noon on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, 920 10th Street, Tell City. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at noon. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
