Members of the Maine Warden Service and the Maine Association for Search and Rescue located Rebecca Dorr, 56, dead Saturday morning in a wooded area near walking trails in Brunswick, ending a nearly two-month search that had been repeatedly set back by winter weather. Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said the death is not considered suspicious.

Dorr was last seen leaving her Brunswick home at 272 Maine St. between the afternoon of Jan. 25 and the morning of Jan. 26. The Maine Warden Service and Brunswick Police Department announced publicly on Jan. 26 that they were searching for her, noting in a Facebook post that she was believed to have gone missing from that address.

Heavy snow fell the night of her disappearance and immediately complicated efforts to find her. Authorities suspended the initial search because of the snow and cold temperatures, and in the weeks that followed, Brunswick Police continued pursuing leads and reviewing information while conditions remained poor. As snow melted enough to allow a more thorough effort, a large-scale search was planned for Saturday, March 21.

The day before the search resumed, Brunswick Parks and Recreation announced that trails on the Town Commons would be closed Saturday and Sunday. The town also closed two trails near Route 123 on March 21 and 22 to facilitate the effort. Snowmobile units and K-9 teams were part of the planned deployment, alongside Brunswick Police, the Maine Warden Service, Maine Search and Rescue Dogs, and the Maine Association for Search and Rescue.

Dorr had been reported missing previously last August and was found safe three days later in a remote, wooded area. Authorities have said she is impacted by mental health issues. Officials said they will provide updates if new information becomes available. No cause of death has been released pending further investigation.
