Curtis Memorial Library Begins Lobby Renovation Monday to Improve Accessibility
Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick closes part of its lobby Monday, March 23, for a redesign to make the space more flexible and accessible for patrons.

Curtis Memorial Library will section off a portion of its lobby beginning Monday, March 23, as workers start a targeted redesign of the Brunswick library's front entrance space.
The project aims to make the lobby more flexible, accessible, and better suited to how patrons use the building today. The renovation is focused specifically on the front lobby area, leaving the rest of the library's operations intact during construction.
Library staff have not announced a completion date for the work, but the phased approach, cordoning off only a section of the lobby rather than closing the building, is designed to keep disruptions to a minimum for the community members who rely on Curtis Memorial for programming, research, and daily use.
Curtis Memorial Library is located on Pleasant Street in Brunswick and serves as the primary public library for Sagadahoc County's largest community. Accessibility upgrades at public institutions have become an increasing priority across Maine in recent years, as older library buildings adapt their physical spaces to meet the needs of patrons with mobility challenges and changing expectations for community gathering spaces.
