Former Bowdoin Assistant Dean Arrested in Florida for Gross Sexual Assault
Roosevelt Boone, 37, faces 30 years under a Maine gross sexual assault warrant, arrested in Florida where he worked at elite IMG Academy.

Roosevelt Boone, 37, a former Bowdoin College assistant class dean and former University of Maine football player, was arrested Tuesday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, on a Class A felony warrant charging him with gross sexual assault in Brunswick.
Officers from the Brunswick Police Department, working with the United States Marshals Service and the Maine Violent Offender Task Force, took Boone into custody at the preparatory boarding school and sports training facility where he had been employed as enrollment manager. Brunswick Police Chief Scott Stewart described the arrest as the result of an "extensive investigation" into an alleged 2024 incident in Brunswick. Police confirmed the alleged assault did not occur on Bowdoin College's campus.
Boone is being held at Manatee County Jail in Florida as a fugitive from justice, pending extradition to Maine. Under Maine law, a Class A gross sexual assault conviction carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. It is the most serious tier of sexual offense under state law and typically involves force, coercion, or an incapacitated victim. No charges have been proven in court.
Boone served as an assistant class dean at Bowdoin from 2022 to 2024. He took a leave of absence before the start of the 2024-2025 academic year and left the college shortly after. Bowdoin has confirmed only his employment dates and has issued no broader public statement. His career in higher education administration also included positions at Colby College and Rutgers University.
Before moving into administrative roles, Boone played running back for UMaine's Black Bears from 2007 to 2011 and later worked as an assistant coach with the program. He had been working at IMG Academy, one of the country's most prominent prep sports academies, when authorities located and arrested him.
IMG Academy did not immediately respond to media inquiries.
The Brunswick Police Department has urged anyone with information related to Boone or potential sexual assault offenses to contact Detective Kittredge at (207) 731-4312.
