Accurascale returns Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 coaches, single cars sold direct only

Accurascale confirmed on December 17, 2025 that it would produce another run of its 1:76 scale Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 coaches, this time available as single car packs rather than fixed sets. The models carry new running numbers and will be sold direct only through Accurascale, with single car packs priced from £59.45 and multibuy discounts offered for larger orders. Production was scheduled to begin after the company completes its Mk2 coach programme, with delivery currently planned for Q1 2027.

The models replicate the contemporary Caledonian Sleeper blue teal livery first introduced from 2019 and include the feature set modellers expect from Accurascale. Detailing comprises etched metal and fine plastic details, prism free glazing, fully detailed underframes and interiors, interior lighting designed to work on both DC and DCC systems, a stay alive capacitor bank for smoother pickups, RP25 110 wheels and other fine finishing touches. These elements are intended to make the coaches ready for display or running straight from the box while still allowing further detailing work.

This announcement follows other recent Caledonian themed activity from Accurascale, including plans for Class 92 locomotives and a newly tooled Class 73/9. For layouts focused on modern sleeper workings, the availability of single car packs makes it easier to build accurate formations, swap vehicles to match preserved or contemporary consists, and supplement existing runs without buying full fixed sets.

Practically, single car availability gives operators flexibility to fill gaps in existing rakes, to match formed services, and to create realistic length variations for station and platform work. Interior lighting compatible with DC and DCC simplifies installation on layouts that have mixed control systems, and the stay alive capacitor bank reduces flicker on imperfect track. Multibuy pricing makes it viable to assemble a full Sleeper set over time while spreading cost.
