Darrington Press Unveils A Familiar Find Animal-Companion Game Launching April 7
Darrington Press will release A Familiar Find, a familiars-focused card game on April 7 priced at $29.99, putting players in the paws of Exandria’s animal companions.

Darrington Press is bringing familiars to the table with A Familiar Find, a fast-paced strategic card game set in Exandria that will be released April 7, 2026, at an MSRP of $29.99. The publisher bills the title as enchantingly lighthearted and designed for 2–4 players (up to 4), offering a compact, affordable entry for groups who want short, tactical sessions or a Critical Role-flavored party game.
The core conceit is simple and immediate: players step into the role of magical familiars sent by their Spellcaster to track down rare ingredients. “A Familiar Find is a fast-paced, strategic adventure where you step the role of a loyal animal companion charged with an important mission by your Spellcaster: search for rare magical ingredients across every corner of Exandria,” reads Darrington Press’s product copy. Gameplay centers on exploring shifting Location cards, collecting Ingredient cards, using spells and unique abilities to disrupt rivals, and adapting to location-driven rule changes at the central pick-up pile. The first player to assemble a full set of Ingredients or to collect three Astral Essence cards wins: “To win the game a player has to accumulate three Astral Essence cards or one complete set of Ingredients.”
Box contents reflect the game’s card-first design. The package includes a thorough rulebook with visual references and quick start instructions, 84 poker-sized Arcane Cards, 13 Location Cards, and ten Familiar character boards with distinct abilities. Darrington Press Guild stores will carry special copies that include five extra Location promo cards while supplies last, expanding replayability for local players who pick up a DPG edition.
Familiar line-up examples named by the publisher and reporting include Trinket, the armored bear from Campaign 1 and The Legend of Vox Machina; the Wildfire Spirit Monkey; Mister; and Pâté de Rolo (appearing in source texts as both Pâté de Rolo and Pate de Rolo), drawn from Campaign 3. Notably, companions from Campaign 2 are not listed among the base-game options; Sprinkle the Crimson Weasel and Nugget the Blink Dog are absent from the announced roster. The principal game designer is Ian Zang, whose previous title Constellations: The Game of Stargazing and the Night Sky is cited as part of his pedigree. Artwork credits include John Ramsey and Svetlana Kucheryavenko, with the visual approach described as lighter and more whimsical than typical Daggerheart TTRPG art.

A Familiar Find will be available through Darrington Press Guild stores, Critical Role shops in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the EU, and Australia, and at friendly local game stores worldwide. Product pages on Critical Role shops offer sign-ups for restock or availability notices.
For players and store owners, the game’s $29.99 price point and quick-start rulebook make it easy to slot into game-night rotations or demo shelves. Expect repeat plays as Location cards and the ten familiars push tactical variety; watch for DPG promo cards to add immediate local-store incentive. Darrington Press has not confirmed expansions or a wider roster beyond the base ten familiars, so follow product pages and Guild storefronts for updates and any future additions tied to different campaigns or the animated series.
