Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on September 15, 2026, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, posting "Let's cut to the chase: Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026." The studio unveiled the date with a brief social message accompanied by a six‑second teaser that shows the game's key art and the release-date text.

The announcement was posted on February 24, 2026, and outlets noted the reveal was intentionally short and direct. Game Informer described it as "a quick, six-second video posted to Insomniac's various social media platforms. Text above the video reads, 'Let's cut to the chase: Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026.' The video itself just shows the game's key art ... and text announcing the release date." Fans hoping for more gameplay footage were left wanting after the surprise social drop.

Insomniac is developing Wolverine in partnership with Marvel Games, with PlayStation positioning the title as a first-party exclusive. The studio behind the Spider-Man games returns to a Marvel license but, according to Insomniac Senior Community Manager Aaron Jason Espinoza, is "breaking new ground and leaning decisively into Logan’s brutal and distinctive form of heroism, with the narrative set to explore the mutant’s darker instincts while placing him against formidable odds."

Reporting so far frames Wolverine as a darker, more brutal take compared to Insomniac’s Spider-Man entries. Mezha Ua and Storyboard18 describe an original narrative in which the protagonist hunts the secrets of his past across locations named in trailers and coverage: Madripoor, the northern regions of Canada, and Tokyo. Trailer footage first shown last September emphasized environmental destruction, traversal, and "fast, fluid and ferocious combat sequences alongside high-intensity set pieces," signaling a heavier focus on melee and hack-and-slash action than the studio’s previous web-swinging work.

Storyboard18 identifies Liam McIntyre as the voice actor for Logan and highlights the team’s accessibility work, reporting developers have "incorporated extensive accessibility options, underscoring their commitment to delivering an uncompromising yet widely accessible experience." Those inclusivity details will be watched closely as Insomniac fills out pre-release information.

The project was first confirmed in 2021 and only recently showed gameplay, making the Feb. 24 announcement the first firm date after Sony and Insomniac had given a fall 2026 window. VGC notes the Sept. 15 launch places Wolverine two months ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6’s planned Nov. 19 release and labels Wolverine PlayStation’s biggest first-party game currently planned for 2026. Mezha Ua also flagged another Sony Marvel title, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, with an Aug. 6 release date mentioned in coverage.

Key details remain open: full platform plans beyond PS5, pricing, pre-order dates, and whether the world will be one large open world or a set of condensed zones as some analysis has speculated. Insomniac teased a potential larger reveal this spring after showing gameplay last September, so expect the studio to expand on cast, structure, and editions ahead of the September 15 launch.
