Starfield PS5 Launch Confirmed for April 7, Pre-Orders March 18
Starfield will arrive on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026, with pre-orders expected to open March 18 (possibly the evening of March 17); two editions priced €49.99/€69.99.

Starfield will arrive on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026, with pre-orders expected to open March 18, 2026, or possibly on March 17 in the early evening, according to Dealabs writer billbil-kun and a Polish retailer listing that has circulated in industry reporting. The leak names two PS5 editions at launch: a Standard Edition and a Premium Edition.
The PS5 prices reported for Europe and the UK are a Standard Edition at €49.99 / £44.99 and a Premium Edition at €69.99 / £59.99. Kotaku’s conversions put those roughly at about $60 USD and roughly $82 USD respectively. Those figures are significantly lower than Starfield’s original Xbox launch prices, which VGC notes were €79.99 / £69.99 for the Standard Edition and €109.99 / £99.99 for the Premium Edition.
Multiple outlets that repeated the listing highlighted the price gap as a selling point for PlayStation owners. Insider-gaming summed up the difference plainly: “There’s a definite discount here for PlayStation owners, making it a more alluring proposition if you want to see what the fuss is all about.” VGC has raised the question of whether this PS5 pricing will prompt Microsoft to adjust Xbox pricing, but no such change has been confirmed.
Reporting repeatedly flags format and territory specifics. Dealabs and VGC state a physical PS5 release is expected on April 7, with Kotaku adding that a physical version will be available “at least in Europe.” It remains unclear whether April 7 applies to the digital release worldwide or if physical and digital timings will differ; VGC notes the insider “has not yet specified whether this date applies to the digital version of the game too, or whether the physical version will come later.”

Dealabs’ billbil-kun supplies the most specific pre-order timing in the leaks: “According to our information, pre-orders for the PS5 version of Starfield are expected to open on March 18, 2026, or possibly on March 17 in the early evening.” Outlets that repeated the claim point to the Polish retailer listing as the initial source and say billbil-kun’s corroboration lends weight to the date. VGC cautions that PPE’s sources have been mixed in the past, writing that “PPE, whose sources haven't always been accurate, they’ve been equally wrong with other things.”
Several details remain unconfirmed ahead of any official Bethesda or Microsoft announcement. Wccftech notes that “the content of the Premium Edition has also yet to be confirmed, though it is expected to include, at the very least, the Shattered Space expansion.” Other open questions are whether pre-orders will coincide with an official PS5 announcement in March, whether the April 7 date is global for digital and physical formats, and whether Xbox and PC pricing will be adjusted to mirror the cheaper PS5 launch.
Starfield first arrived on Xbox and PC in September 2023, and reporting around the PS5 leak has also referenced recent developer commentary — including Todd Howard’s pushback on a supposed “Starfield 2.0” — and separate rumors about Switch 2 ports. With March 17-18 now the actionable window for pre-orders and April 7 the reported ship date, the next confirmation to watch for is an official statement from Bethesda or Microsoft clarifying format, territory, and Premium Edition contents.
