Town of Timnath Adds Resident eFoil Permit March 9, 2026
The Town of Timnath posted a 2026 reservoir permitting calendar that lists "Resident eFoil – March 9, 2026 – 9AM," the same release window as resident shore and non-motorized permits.

The Town of Timnath's 2026 reservoir permitting calendar posts "Resident eFoil – March 9, 2026 – 9AM," placing eFoil registration in the same slot as "Resident Shore Permits and Non-Motorized Permits – March 9, 2026 – 9AM," the town's permitting page shows. Motorized Boat permits, the calendar notes, opened earlier on "Motorized Boat Permits – March 2, 2026 – 9AM," and Growth Management Area and Colorado Angler permits are scheduled for "GMA and Colorado Angler Permits – March 16, 2026 – 9AM."
Permits are available at the Timnath Administration Building, 4800 Goodman Street, and the town's page includes the pickup and mailing logistics in full: "When submitting your permit applications online, you may choose to pick them up or have your passes mailed to you. If you selected for your permits to be 'picked up,' allow for 2 business days after purchasing your pass before you pick up at 4800 Goodman St. during business hours: M – F; 8 am – 4 pm, if you selected the 'mailed' option, expect up to 2 weeks before receiving your permits. Mail delays or other problem may occur. Please ensure that the mailing address on file is updated." The permitting page also displays action prompts including "Register Here!" and "Read the reservoir policy here."
Annual permit applicants should be prepared with required documentation. The town's posted rules reference the Adopted Policy for reservoir use and existing permit procedures state that "Annual permits are subject to presentation of a signed Timnath Reservoir Boating Permit Application (available online), a signed Timnath Reservoir Permit Agreement and Waiver (available online), proof of residency in Timnath, a current and valid driver’s license (the number must be recorded on the permit application), current boat registration, and proof of insurance for motorized boats that include liability insurance in the minimum amount of $300,000 per accident and $100,000 per individual, including bodily damage. Permits are available at the Timnath Administration Building 4800 Goodman Street."
The reservoir's legal status is spelled out on the permitting page: "The use of the reservoir property is available to properly permitted residents, future Timnath residents, Colorado anglers, and their guests. The property is owned by the New Cache La Poudre Reservoir Company and is leased by the Town of Timnath for recreational purposes." The town's resident definitions appear verbatim on the page, including "Any person that resides within the current Town of Timnath Municipal boundaries. This includes property owners, renters, and business owner" and the GMA definition, "Any person that resides within the current Town of Timnath Growth Management Area (GMA) - outside of Town of Timnath Municipal Boundaries. This includes property owners and renters."

Historical policy and proposed changes appear in earlier records: when the reservoir began recreational use in 2014, the town allowed kayaks, rowboats, and speed and pontoon boats 20-feet or shorter, prohibited "Jet skis and inboard hydroplanes," and reported annual permit prices then ranging "from $25 for non-motorized craft to $450 for motorized boats," with alcohol consumption prohibited and Larimer County Sheriff's enforcement planned. A 2021 Civicweb "Proposed Policy" comparison lists specific proposed adjustments to guest allowances, permit caps, and fee entries - for example, a proposed GMA Resident Annual Individual Permit fee shown as $35 in the Civicweb excerpt - but the Civicweb excerpt does not indicate whether those 2021 proposals were adopted for 2026.
The town's calendar makes a clear scheduling move: eFoil registrations are set for March 9, 2026 at 9 a.m., the same release as resident shore and non-motorized permits, while motorized boat permits already opened March 2, 2026 at 9 a.m.; the permitting page does not, in the posted snippets, define whether eFoils are classified as motorized for insurance or registration purposes, and the Adopted Policy referenced on the page is the next place to check for any operational rules that will apply to eFoils.
