Aichtal carried more weight than a one-day stop on the MultiGP calendar. The Aircrasher 2026 MultiGP Global Qualifier at DCS Aich put pilots inside the championship ladder, turning a public race into a direct path toward the 2026 title chase.

The event ran May 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and its place on the schedule mattered as much as the laps. MultiGP’s 2026 Global Qualifier season began March 27, and Aichtal landed in the middle of a packed stretch of chapter racing across multiple regions. In a sport where the qualifier system decides who advances, every stop carries consequences: one clean run can keep a title hope alive, while a missed chance can close the door.

What made the Aichtal round especially important was access. MultiGP says its Championship series is open to all countries, and the Global Qualifier track is selected each year through a community vote among submitted designs. Tier 3, Tier 2 and Tier 1 chapters are eligible to host a specified number of Global Qualifier races on that official track, which makes the system both standardized and expandable. The organizer process includes formal verification of the track, with records filed to MultiGP, so this was not a casual local meetup but a certified step on the road to Champs.

That structure is part of what gives a venue like DCS Aich real value. MultiGP describes itself as the largest drone racing league and FPV community in the world, with more than 30,000 registered pilots and 500 active chapters worldwide, and the calendar pressure around Aichtal showed how tightly the circuit is being managed. For pilots, timing and progression are now inseparable. For chapters, hosting a qualifier is a way to convert local strength into championship relevance.

Aichtal already had the kind of history that gives a qualifier extra heft. Aircrasher hosted the first official MultiGP European Championship there from September 12-14, 2025, and MultiGP identified Aircrasher as a Tier 1 chapter for that event. The championship retrospective credited the Aircrasher chapter with race control, Bavarian Multirotor with support, Matt Andrews with an eight-hour live stream, and TBone FPV with the track design. That earlier showcase made the May qualifier feel less like a stand-alone stop and more like another waypoint in a venue that has already proven it can handle the sport’s biggest stages.
