A capped 50-pilot grid and six early registrations gave FPV Rebels’ May race and funfly the feel of a fixture, not a casual meetup. Brisbane-area FPV racers will have another fixed date to circle on Saturday, May 16, when the club returns to Bill Brown Sports Reserve, 411 Roghan Rd, Fitzgibbon QLD 4018, for a full day from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The format is built to serve both sides of the sport. Competitive pilots will get organized race action, while the funfly side keeps the day open enough for newer flyers and guests to get on the sticks without the pressure of a pure race card. FPV Rebels says guests are welcome, and new participants can create a free account to register, a small but useful detail for families and first-timers looking for an entry point into the scene.

Pricing is also set out clearly. Senior members will pay $20, senior non-members $30, junior members $15 and junior non-members $20. That split matters in a sport where gear costs can already stack up quickly, and it helps explain why the club’s calendar has become a regular stop for local racers who want more than one-off fly-ins.

FPV Rebels has been pushing that steady rhythm for some time. The club describes itself as Queensland’s first officially approved FPV Drone Flying Special Interest group, and it says it runs indoor micro nights as well as outdoor race days. Its calendar already carried other 2026 events at Bill Brown Sports Reserve, including a March 21 meet, with April indoor sessions and later dates also on the schedule.

That continuity has turned the reserve into more than just a venue. A January race and funfly at the same Fitzgibbon address framed Bill Brown as the club’s local hub for FPV sport, and a December 2024 club video thanked Brisbane City Councillor Sally Landers for ribbon-launching the new venue. The location itself helps, sitting inside a broader recreation precinct that also includes a BMX and cycling facility, skate park, aquatic centre, netball courts, a dog off-leash area and playground amenities.

For FPV Rebels, the May meet is another sign that Bill Brown Sports Reserve has become a dependable home base. The club is also listed by AUFPV among affiliated racing clubs, which places the Brisbane scene inside a wider national network while still keeping the action local, accessible and race-ready.
