South Austin Target Robbery Suspect Assaults Employee, Flees in Pickup Truck
A loss-prevention employee was assaulted at South Austin's Target on S. I-35 after confronting a suspected shoplifter who fled in a dark gray pickup truck.

A suspected shoplifter assaulted a loss-prevention employee at the Target store on South Interstate 35 and escaped in a dark gray pickup truck, and Austin police are still looking for him more than two weeks later.
The incident unfolded around 8:47 p.m. on February 25 at the Target located at 9500 S. I-35. According to the Austin Police Department, the suspect entered the store and selected several men's clothing items before heading toward the exit. When a loss-prevention employee attempted to intervene, the suspect assaulted the employee and fled on foot through the parking lot to his vehicle. Surveillance video captured him driving away in the dark gray pickup truck.
APD's Robbery Unit logged the case as 26-561429 and has released surveillance photos of the suspect, described as a white male approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, in his mid-30s to early 40s, with a large build. He was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, light gray capri pants or joggers, white shoes, and a gray ball cap featuring a black-and-white shield logo.

No arrest has been reported. The condition of the assaulted employee was not disclosed by police.
