Rendlesham Canicross Spring 2026 Kicks Off With 21 Runners in Shottisham

Eleanor Green posted the fastest time of the entire day on Saturday, crossing the 5k finish line in 17:34.5 to take the overall, female, and 1-dog titles at Rendlesham Canicross Spring 2026's first day of racing in Shottisham. It was the quickest split recorded across all three distances on the Webscorer preliminary results sheet.

The 5k drew the biggest field of the morning, with 14 of the event's 21 total starters lining up for that distance. Nine were women, five were men, and the 1-dog subcategory accounted for eight entries. Chris Chorley led the male side in 20:30.4 to take the men's 5k and the male 1-dog category. Claire Higgins was the sole competitor in the 2-dog 5k subcategory, finishing in 23:38.6.

In the 5k Junior race, Ashton Moore swept all three available categories, taking overall, male, and 1-dog honours in 21:12.5. Two juniors started that distance.

The 10K was a five-runner affair. Steven Fendley won the overall and male 1-dog titles in 38:21.6, with only one other man in the field. Sam Barry took the female and female 1-dog honours in 46:56.4, heading a three-woman contingent over the longer course.

The race used an interval wave start with custom wave grouping, a format common in canicross where staggered sends reduce congestion on trails and let dogs run without the chaos of a mass start. Timing was handled through Webscorer PRO 7.8 on a Samsung SM-A346B. Results on the Webscorer page carry a preliminary label as of the 10:57 GMT update on race day; final confirmation from the organiser is still pending.

Whether Saturday's event is the first leg of a multi-day series remains unconfirmed, though the "Day 1" designation suggests further racing is scheduled.
