Sea of Remnants sets China launch window, reopens closed beta recruitment
Sea of Remnants just reopened test recruitment in China and now has a Q3 2026 launch window there, but mobile players outside China still have no global date.

Sea of Remnants has moved from tease territory into something players can actually act on: NetEase set a Q3 2026 launch window for China and reopened recruitment for a new Dawn Test, with the pre-registration page already live through 3839/. For anyone who has been waiting to see whether this ocean RPG was still alive, that is the clearest sign yet that the game is still in active motion.
That matters because Sea of Remnants has been on a long runway. NetEase first revealed it during PlayStation State of Play on June 4, 2025, and pitched it as a free-to-play ocean adventure RPG for PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android in 2026. Later English-language NetEase materials narrowed the pitch to PlayStation 5, Steam, and PC on Windows, which leaves the mobile side less settled for global audiences than it looked at reveal.
Joker Studio, the team behind Identity V, said it had spent more than six years developing the project, and the cadence since reveal has been steady enough to suggest a real production pipeline rather than a one-off trailer drop. NetEase announced the first Closed Alpha Test on January 8, 2026, for February 5, 2026, and Japanese materials described that small-scale test as the Wanderer Alpha Test. The new Dawn Test recruitment shows the game is still moving through testing instead of sitting on a shelf.

The pitch is also unusual enough to stand out in the crowded mobile RPG lane. The PlayStation Store concept page leans into punk graffiti, vivid comics, and chaotic glitch aesthetics, while the trailer centers on a memory-less puppetfolk sailor and a mysterious girl searching for lost memories across pirate cities, islands, sea monsters, and shifting oceans. That setup points to exploration and atmosphere first, not the usual auto-battle grind.
For mobile players, the practical takeaway is simple: China has a live registration path right now, but the Q3 2026 window only covers that region, and global release timing remains unconfirmed. Sea of Remnants is no longer just a stylish reveal from NetEase and Joker Studio; the reopened test recruitment shows it is still being pushed forward, even if the wider mobile rollout is still waiting in the fog.
