Randall's Island Park Offers Free Yoga, Festivals and More in 2026
Randall's Island Park Alliance is offering free outdoor yoga all summer: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. starting in May and Saturdays at 10 a.m. in July and August, led by Sweet Water Dance & Yoga.

The Randall's Island Park Alliance just released its 2026 free public programming calendar, and two time slots are worth locking in right now: Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., May through September, and Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. in July and August. Both sessions run outdoors at the Sunken Meadow Picnic Area, led by instructors from Sweet Water Dance & Yoga. Bring your mat. That is the entire barrier to entry.
RIPA unveiled the full calendar on March 30, announcing hundreds of events spread across the season: Earth Day Festival on April 25, Waterfront Festival on July 18, Harvest Festival on October 4, plus track nights, cooking workshops, community volunteering, and ongoing movement classes. President Deborah Maher framed the release as building on a post-pandemic surge in participation, with the mission of expanding equitable access across East Harlem, the South Bronx, and Queens. RIPA maintains and programs over 60 athletic facilities across 330 acres of city parkland and instructs roughly 1,400 young people annually. The yoga series is delivered through a partnership with Sweet Water Dance & Yoga, and classes are open to anyone 15 and older.
Getting there is simpler than most New Yorkers expect. From Manhattan, take the M35 bus from the northwest corner of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue, with a direct transfer connection from the 4, 5, or 6 subway at 125th Street. From Queens, a pedestrian and bike path on the RFK Triborough Bridge connects from Hoyt Avenue and 28th Street, steps from the Astoria Boulevard N/W subway station, and deposits you at the Central Fields. Drivers should GPS to 20 Randall's Island Park, New York, NY 10035; the RFK Triborough Bridge toll is $8.50 cashless inbound, free on exit.
Outdoor events at Randall's Island are subject to weather cancellation. RIPA posts updates through its website and handles accessibility and event inquiries at [email protected]. For a Tuesday evening drop-in or a Saturday morning flow before the summer heat peaks, the full calendar is at randallsisland.org/events.
What separates this from a pop-up studio series is institutional credibility. RIPA has been the dedicated steward of Randall's Island Park for decades, working directly with the City of New York, and the yoga programming is embedded in a season-long structure alongside major festivals and community health programming. A weekly outdoor class from May to September, free, no sign-up, no waitlist, with a vetted local instructor, is not something private studios can replicate. Forward this to your summer yoga group and bookmark the RIPA calendar before the July schedule fills.
