Borderlands 4 launches Bounty Pack 2 with new missions, pearlescent gear

Borderlands 4 deployed Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon on February 26, 2026, and pushed a Major Update the same day to add Pearlescent gear to the game. The official copy calls Pearlescent-rarity loot "that's even more Legendary than Legendaries," and the patch notes from Borderlands/2K and Support Borderlands list fresh Legendary gear alongside the new rarity.

The new mission drops players into the abandoned mines of Kairos, where "A wretched malevolence lurks within the abandoned mines of Kairos," the published narrative reads. For centuries the Augers allegedly quelled rumblings by sending sacrifices to the Stone Demon, and Defiant Calder joins players to "delve into an ancient cavern" and "eliminate threats among rich veins of crystalline Ordonite," language carried in the official and aggregated writeups.

Gameplay additions are concrete: the mission culminates in four new boss fights and introduces Ordonite-encrusted enemy types. Borderlands/2K summarizes the content as "Take on new Ordonite-encrusted enemy types and four new boss fights, all in hopes of scoring powerful new Pearlescent-rarity loot." Previews and marketing assets show a marauder infected by Ordonite and labels such as Bounty Boss Fight and Bounty Environment, underscoring the caverns-and-crystals theme.

Loot changes arrive in two parts. Pearlescent rarity was added as a free Major Update on Feb 26, 2026, expanding the game's drop table, but MentalMars notes that "certain pieces of Pearlescent gear are exclusive to Bounty Pack 2," so expect both free-update drops and DLC-locked items. Support Borderlands' changelog explicitly recorded "Added support for Bounty Pack 2" and "NEW Legendary Gear has been added," confirming official backend support for the new rarities and items.

Completing the Bounty Pack's final Main Mission grants several guaranteed cosmetics: "By fully completing the new mission in Bounty Pack 2, you'll unlock a new Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a new Vehicle Skin, and a new ECHO-4 Drone Skin," per Borderlands/2K. The Stone Demon Vault Card is tied to this pack and "offers new loot and cosmetics"; MentalMars explains the card is leveled by XP and by completing Daily and Weekly challenges and instructs players to "Activate the Stone Demon Vault Card on the Vault Card tab in your ECHO menu." Support Borderlands also logged added support for the Vault Card.

Access and packaging are straightforward: Bounty Pack 2 is included with Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition, Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition, and the Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack Bundle, and it is available for separate purchase, with the base game required. Gearbox has promoted the pack via Gearbox DevCast Episode 1 - Legend of the Stone Demon and a Borderlands YouTube page pointing viewers to the official site; social chatter across Reddit, X, Facebook, BlueSky, and other channels has amplified screenshots labeled Bounty Squad and Bounty Pack Enemy.

PCGamesN's Ken Allsop framed the launch as a setup for March content, writing that the pack "is the springboard I've been wanting ahead of its upcoming story expansion," and pointing to March's Mad Ellie and Vault of the Damned, which introduces the fifth Vault Hunter C4SH. With Pearlescent drops now live and four new bosses to farm in the caverns of Kairos, Borderlands 4's February update has shifted the late winter loop from tease to active loot chase as the studio rolls toward its March roadmap.
